This is the wildest valley of the Park, without roads or huts; the primordial beauty of this glacial valley with flat bottom and harsh, vertical slopes is extraordinary. The grassland and bogs of the upper part disappear in its lower part swallowed by mugo pines and debris flow. Val Travenànzes becomes deeper and narrower towards its confluence with Val di Fanes. Good weather conditions and a minimum training are required to hike this fascinating destination.
Length: 8.000 m.During World War 1, Mt. Piccolo Lagazuoi was the theatre of a mine war: one of the most unique forms of conflict in which Italians and Austrians fought each other in the Dolomites. In order to break through and outflank some impregnable strongholds, both contending armies tunnelled and mined the mountains and blew up huge rocky faces. One of the Italian galleries, above the Martini ledge, was left unexploded. It is several hundred metres long and equipped for support and still accessible today.

Safe against landslides and avalanches, some of the masonry structure of the buildings has preserved and can be visited along a winding road.

The descent is down Alpe di Lagazuoi and Forcella Salares, characterized by large limestone slabs below the high walls of Cima Scotoni and Cime di Fanes.
